Island Life Diaries: Jason Moir

SO JASON, TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

Born in Northern Ontario Canada, grew up in Muskoka, and have spent pretty much my entire adulthood living it up here in the Cayman Islands. I was Fortunate enough to be granted my Caymanian Status along with my brother a couple years ago. Not going anywhere for awhile!!

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES/ACTIVITIES?

I love being outdoors & near or on the water. Now most of my spare time is spent with my rescue dog or foster pups.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT LIVING IN CAYMAN?

Easy answer is the weather!! But the truth is, there is a lot great things!! Surprisingly still small community vibe & the fantastic people.

WHERE WOULD YOU GO FOR THE PERFECT DINNER DATE?

The perfect date!! I’ve had a couple and a couple not so perfect. LOL! A quick cocktail or wine at the bar in Saltwater Grill... Dinner at a little Italian joint like Edoardo’s... After dinner go listen to my buddy Jeff play at the Westin.... Then probably to The Backroom for a night cap!  If I’m keeping it really classy though, Rock n’ Roll Bingo & Bucket of Miller Lites at the bar with Chop!

NAME 4 OF YOUR FAVOURITE RESTAURANTS ON ISLAND, AND GO!

Cimboco for the Jerk Chicken Sandwich or Simple & Light Pasta, BUT, it’s important to ADD JERK CHICKEN to the pasta!

The Brooklyn in Camana Bay for Pasta and I love their Pizzas!

Eagle Rays makes a mean Lionfish taco that’s worth the drive.

Dukes Seafood & Ribs across from public beach have Maui Ribs that are super addictive!

Obviously the food and service in a restaurant is important to me!!

TOP 3 BEACHES IN CAYMAN?

Spotts Beach

Cemetery Beach, and

Any piece of empty beach at Barkers to let my dogs run loose!

BEST PLACE TO GO FOR A SUNSET DRINK?

Really depends on the drink.... but right now I love hitting up the Westin bar at Sunset... nothing really beats a simple Miller lite at Calicos too.
